Through videos they were thrilled to find out that how a machine called combine is able to do three different steps of harvesting together and saving the time and effort of the farmers. They shared how the raw food is stored in their houses which are in small quantities and how the silos work to store the humongous amount of the same safely. They researched about green revolution and organic farming and shared it in the class. They acknowledged the demerits of the subsidiary alliance and doctrine of Lapse policies of the British with the help of PPT. Different wars like Anglo- Mysore war, Anglo Maratha wars, Anglo Sikh wars etc. were explained with the help of story-telling method. The administrative, judiciary and military structure of the British were explained with the help of a mind map where they were able to interpret the hierarchy effectively. The chapter was concluded with a revision worksheet based on some High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions. Besides this, the PBL project on the topic Colonial Agrarian Policies was given where children were divided into four groups. Each group was given one agrarian policy and children confidently presented the policy through interactive PPTs. Children integrated in their project various ICT tools like Nearpod, MS Forms and Quizziz.com which engaged the class effectively. GEOGRAPHY Types of Resources To introduce the topic what are resources students were asked to look around them and identify objectives (at least 10 each) and group them into useful and useless things. They understand the resources as they are useful. They described resources and classified them into natural, human made and human resources. They also gained knowledge about classification of natural resources on the basis of origin, stage of development and renewability. Later students suggested few steps to conserve resources. A research work was given to students on Brundtland report which defined the sustainable development. They also suggested few ways to conserve land resources. With the help of video students presented and explained soil, its components soil profile, soil character and formation. They also presented a soil profile made by them in class. Students described and infer the different types of soil in India while showing a video and a map. They gained knowledge about loss of soil and suggested few ways for soil conservation related to key practices and techniques. Students recalled water as resource and explained different sources like multipurpose river valley projects, dams, canal, tanks, wells and tube wells through which we can fulfill our needs. Change the atmosphere through different lighting and make the pictures look more interesting..” The students, in ICT classes learnt Photoshop tools by recognising different tools and they discussed the used of these tools. They explored different features of Photoshop like Blur, Sharpen, Smudge and Slice Tool. Photoshop topic was concluded with International Collaboration with four schools - Vinschool Times City – Vietnam, VVDAV Public School – India and SkBatuBalai, Jerantut Pahang, Malaysia They shared photo-editing tips with partner countries students and they also got opportunity to learn Video editing and Scratch software from them. ENGLISHThe class interaction began with a discussion of likes, dislikes and interests of the students. The students understood about the possibility of redemption and the importance of love and affection by reading the chapter ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens and engaged in a discussion about Christmas and its relevance in the current times. They understood the moral values of being patient, kind and generous. They took part in the discussion of question answers enthusiastically and completed their written work. The concept of Determiners was further taken up to identify the articles, determiners and quantifiers and primarily their application. The previous knowledge of students was tested with a discussion where the students were able to apply Determiners in the given sentences. The students studied the rules of using Determiners and practiced the same in the Grammar Practice Book. For more practice and better understanding, they also attempted some live worksheets. The hilarious read ‘Dusk’ enthralled the students. They focused on attempting ‘Reference to Context’ questions in this chapter. Informal letters were started with a situation based discussion in the class wherein the students were able to compare and contrast the features of formal and informal letters. Eliciting responses while reading the PPT about the types of letters was another interesting way to get their attention. The students not only shared their prior knowledge, relevance and application of letters in the current scenario but also minutely observed a sample to deduce the format of the letters- both Formal and Informal. The practice questions attempted by the students helped them to work upon their style of writing and structure it. In order to improve their ability to ‘Apply and Transfer’ (under Bloom’s Taxonomy), they shared their knowledge about informal letters and practiced writing the same with the help of instructions shared in the class. SPANISHThe month started with an interactive activity based on vacations, “Pause and tell something inspired by the picture”. It can be a sentence or a word. The students enjoyed recalling previous knowledge related with the topic vacations. New vocabulary and Q.A. was introduced to enhance the vacations related knowledge. Art Technique: Free hand, colouring, outlining Art tools: Pencil, Sketch pen, crayons, oil pastels, scale, compass/circular object LIFE SKILLSThis month’s lessons continued the topic of Emotional quotient. Along with concept of EQ, focus was given on Social Quotient, understanding social intelligence, and what happens when social intelligence breaks down was discussed. Students solved a checklist and self-assessment inventory on SQ to check their own social behavior. As a consequence of their lessons, students learnt “How to connect with people…” with proper understanding of different social roles.
